In this short 5-minute documentary, we follow one family who immigrated to the UK from Nepal during the early 21st Century. They all share their stories and lives explaining to us the what, why, when, and how of their experience of immigration and their lives in England.

In this first production, I was assigned Sound to which I was in charge of Music, Sound Effects, Ambience, and the actual recording sound of our family we are following. I worked with the Producer in creating Poster Concepts (See 'Personal Work' for my Poster design) and putting together ideas for the final poster for the Documentary. I also participated in doing some Research for the production and Pre-Production Paperwork.

Mum’s Out! (2020) - Experimental

Unfortunately, this project was assigned during the COVID-19 Pandemic which resulted in this project being cancelled for production but were still assigned to create a Production File regardless.

'Mum's Out' was an experimental film project that me and my group at the time were working on. 'Mum's Out', a production produced by Alex C and were to be edited by Samuel Stilwell (me) was about a young boy who was left alone in the house for a while after his Mum goes out to do some chores. We follow this boy and watch him live out his young ages doing everything a young boy could dream of doing until... he smashes a precious vase of his mother's and panics not knowing what to do. We travel inside his mind to find him in his own world where he is being interrogated to why he smashed the vase. He's confronted by his alter egos. His good side and his bad side. What will he do? Is he in trouble or is he safe?

During the Pre-Production, I was in charge of creating certain pieces of paperwork. I did the Location Reece, and worked with the others in deciding good places to film the scenes. I also completed the Risk Assessments for those locations too.

Make it in the 80s (2021)

This is a short 5 minute informational film explaining and exampling how to set up a DSLR Digital Camera, Tripod, Boom pole and Microphone and a TASCAM Digital Audio Recorder. For this Production, I edited the entire film so all effects, colour grading and cuts are all done by myself. Overall, I enjoyed working on this project and has increased my overall knowledge of editing. Edited using Premiere Pro

Red Christmas (2022)

This Project was one of our assigned assessments which required myself and my team to create a pitch portfolio booklet of a film idea of our own which is based of an original Intellectual Property. For this project, my team and I agreed to make a film based on the fictional world of the SCP Foundation (A fictional organisation that hunts, captures and contains paranormal entities which all are designed and made by everyone in the community) Our story idea follows a family in Finland who are seeked out and hunted by the entity known as 'SCP-4666' or it's nickname 'The Yule Man'. With a Point of View from the family and SCP Investigators which investigate the incident after it happened. We wanted to create a paranormal activity type of film that would be enjoyable and make viewers feel off edge if they were to see this movie

I undertook the Intellectual Property page, The Marketing page, The Health and Safety page/Covid-19 Restrictions page and the Resources and Bibliography page. The entire design of the Portfolio was designed by myself

Although the whole assessment was only making the portfolio and not the actual film, I enjoyed the whole process and putting together a detailed and well designed pitch portfolio

My Friend (2022)

Set on the last year of WWII in the middle of an unknown location, a British soldier finds himself fleeing back to the Allied Forward Camp after surviving a bombing on his squad. Running into a German soldier he's faced with the decision of firing in a stand-off between him and the enemy but with hesitance from both sides, they lay down their arms and vow to never take them up again.

This project was apart of one of my modules which we were tasked in creating and filming a short 5 minute film using every resource we had available. Starting from scratch, I put together a crew of 5 people and myself and worked on this idea to produce what is now 'My Friend'. Coming up with this idea and producing a great short story we were also tasked in funding our project...

Using Kickstarter as our main platform for funding, we designed and created promotional videos, posters and posted it all over social media.

Overall, with the idea of creating a short 5 minute film with essentially nothing but the building blocks to make a film, it showed me the world of being a Producer and designing, planning and perfecting the film. I absolutely enjoyed making this film and respectfully and professionally took on the role as Producer throughout the project. Pre to Post.

After a misfortune, Martin, a single-sourced father spends his days drinking his sorrows away when a sudden wave of events leads him to discover a world beyond humanity meeting those who watch from a different world…

Amor Fati is a Short Fictional Drama with themes of Morality, Individual Growth, and Self-Awareness.

This project was my final graduate film that was my chance to show off my skills as a Producer to present an industry-worthy film. As part of our graduate film module, we were tasked to create and produce a 15-minute long short film of our choice with a Production File, Social Media platform, and a promotional website.

As the Producer I was tasked with handling the preparations for the Production stage of the project including Location Scouting, Location Permits, Risk Assessments, and handling the budget for the film. I also undertook the handling of the Crowdfunder as well as taking on the role of Social Media Manager.

With this final project, we started completely from scratch and worked our way throughout the year to produce this film. Overall, it was a thrilling and educational experience and a memorable final graduate film.

Work Experience (2023)

After doing my previous work experience at Zoggs back in 2018, I returned to complete another week of Work Experience on behalf of my university module.

I worked closely with the Marketing team tasked to complete a variety of jobs. I was first tasked to come up and design thumbnails for videos on the company YouTube channel. I spent a few days completing these and finished a selection of thumbnails that the team approved of. While handling this, I was also tasked with a minor Website Management job. I was asked to check the ‘Customers also bought’ section on each product page on their official website and select a choice of products that would work well with the main product page.

Other tasks I was required to complete was an editing task. The task required me to re-edit videos and change their old logo to their new one. For this, I used Premiere Pro. On another day, I was tasked to design a roller banner design which were to be used in a private customer meeting. I created a variety of banner designs using a pool of photos and put them together using my preferred platform ‘Canva’

I also was tasked to create two blogs for a summer post

Overall, I enjoyed working with the Zoggs team again and would like to do it again in the future.
