ACTION PLAN
As of July 2023, I have graduated from the University of Portsmouth with a Bachelor’s Degree in Film Production and now have begun my career in the Film Industry.
My current plan is to begin finding work on independent projects found through online job pages such as Mandy starting off with assistant roles to help build my knowledge and understanding of working on a higher-budgeted production. I believe this way, I can build connections and friendships that’ll help in the future.
A second plan is to begin working at a studio to which I can also build connections through productions using the studios and other studio staff.
I also hope to begin my own productions and bring my own stories to life which I consider to be my current end goal. I would like these films to be submitted to festivals and competitions for a chance to show my stories to a large audience.
Improving Camera Skills
Although I have the skills and knowledge of using a camera, I wish to pursue a further understanding of filming with different cameras in how to use them and what camera equipment would be the best for which situation
Festivals
A personal goal of mine is to begin submitting my final projects to film festivals for the chance to share my stories with a large audience and gain that recognition which may bring work in the industry
Leadership
Taking leadership is one of the newest skills I have acquired during university and to have the responsibility of overseeing the production excites me which is why from previous experience I take leadership when working in a group
Editing
As a hobby, I edit together videos for a small YouTube video which allows me to explore and use different aspects of an editing software which I take a lot of joy in allowing me to be creative however I like. Using Adobe Suite as my main editing software, I have basic knowledge of using Avid Media Composer
Future Goals
Improving Leadership
I believe that I can improve on my skills in leading a group. With mainly my experience from my university course I would like to work on my skills as a Leader and know what to do in most situations that could occur. This will also be useful for when taking on the role of Producer or Director
Current Skills
Script Writing
Camera Work
Owning my own camera, I enjoy the small moments of photographing what lies around me. Using the skills and knowledge of working a Camera from basic DSLR Cameras to a high-spec ARRI Alexa and understanding the required technical settings for Filming Cameras.
Creative Storytelling
Story writing is a hobby and a skill I use almost every day whether that’s in a story or even to make up a world simply in just my head, I will always be up for a challenge to write a story and bring it to life for the cinematic audience to enjoy
Directing
I haven’t had much opportunity taking on the role of Director which is why I wish to begin Directing projects and gain better skills in how to direct a cast and crew and knowing what I want for each and every scene
Although I consider to have a good skill in Script Writing, I believe it can be greatly improved by fully understanding how to write professional grade scripts. If I am write my own stories then this is a required skill that will benefit me
